Task Force,
I wanted to take a moment to thank each of you for your incredible help and support in making this year’s National Crime Victim’s Rights Week a resounding success. This year’s events built upon the solid foundation of our 2009 campaign and pressed the envelope even further. Everyone who helped hang posters, collect donations, provide drinks, donate time, and stuff our amazing lined lunch totes, among the countless other tasks involved in preparing for this year’s events: THANK YOU!! A special thanks goes out to Rebekah Shelnutt for her amazing effort in coordinating this year’s events. Without her dedication and creativity this year’s NCVRW events would have surly suffered. Again, thank you all.
For those of you who attended the Candle Light Vigil you got to experience the powerful performance of True Life Ministries Inc. as they gave us a taste of their play “A Break at Midnight.” True Life Ministries Pastor, Elder Gregory Hughes, invited us to attend a performance of their play which is to be taped next Saturday night May 1st 2010 stating at 5:00pm. I know several who saw this group perform at the vigil are planning on attending, and if anyone else is interested please let us know. Further information on True Life Ministries Inc. can be found at their website www.truelifeministriesinc.org.
Lastly, go ahead and mark your calendars for the next Task Force meeting on May 14, 2010. At this meeting we are proud to have Maya Gupta, Ph.D from Ahimsa House speaking with us on the connection between animal abuse and domestic violence. I have been lucky enough to hear her speak in the past, and she is incredibly informative. Please be sure to invite guests with you to our next meeting as I am sure the entire community would be enlightened from her presentation. As always the Task Force meeting occurs in the second floor courtroom of the historic courthouse in downtown Canton on the second Friday of each month. Join us at 12:00pm for networking and lunch, with the meeting starting in earnest at 12:30pm and finishing at 1:30pm. Hope everyone has a great weekend and again thank you all for making this year’s NCVRW an incredible success.
